Dan became Director General for the Migration and Borders Group on 14th August 2023. Dan previously worked as Director for Asylum, Protection and Enforcement Policy in the Home Office. He is also the Faith and Belief champion. He previously led the development and establishment of the Windrush Compensation Scheme. Over the last 10 years Dan has held various roles leading on immigration and asylum policy and operational roles. Dan joined the Home Office in 2002, initially working on corporate roles, criminal justice and prison and probation policy. He subsequently joined the faststream and had roles in the Cabinet Office Secretariats and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Dan is a fellow of the Westminster Abbey Institute (2017). He is married with one daughter.
