Brigadier Mason’s 32 years of service in the Army have spanned a variety of roles, the majority focussed on combat command in Afghanistan and Iraq, organisational leadership, and strategic planning roles. Grant has also been responsible for selecting future Army officers, worked on major Defence capability acquisition projects, and overseas liaison and diplomatic roles.
Grant holds a Masters of Business from the University of New South Wales’ Australian Graduate School of Management. Grant also has board director experience in a range of not-for-profits companies, is currently the Patron of Australian Army Sailing and is a Freeman of the City of London.
Before taking up his current post as the Head of the Australian Defence Staff at the Australian High Commission in London, Grant was the Director General for Planning at the Australian Headquarters for Joint Operations Command.
