It was a pleasure to welcome Eliot Higgins, who took us through his journey of becoming an award-winning investigative journalist and the founder of Bellingcat. What started out as a hobby for Eliot has now evolved into an impressive NGO working with various legal groups, such as the International Criminal Court, on the development of new techniques and open-source investigation. Through the mere use of freely available online information, the work of Bellingcat has revealed extraordinary findings on subjects, such as the shooting down of the MH 17 plane in Ukraine, the sourcing of weapons of the Syrian Civil War and the identification of the Salisbury poisoners in 2018.
