Mark Garnier OBE MP was elected to Parliament as the Conservative Member for Wyre Forest in 2010. Prior to that, he had a 27-year career in the City of London, working as an emerging market specialist investment banker, and alternative fund manager. On becoming an MP, Mark served for 6 years on the Treasury Select Committee, and 3 years on the Parliamentary Commission for Banking Standards. In 2016 he was appointed Minister for Investment at the Department for International Trade.
On leaving Government in 2018, Mark served as the PM’s Trade Envoy to the US Regions, and the PM’s Trade Envoy to Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar and Brunei, as well as vice chair of the Energy Security and Net Zero Select Committee. Following the change in Government, Mark was appointed a Shadow Minister for Energy Security and Net Zero and is currently the Shadow Economic Secretary. Mark’s interest in Space spans many decades. He has worked closely with the All Party Parliamentary Space Group since being elected, and now serves as its chair. Mark also serves on advisory and main boards of a number of space related organisations.
