Lessons from Ukraine: An Australian Perspective
Event details
Formerly the Head of the Australian Defence Staff at the Australian High Commission in London and Defence Attaché to Ireland, Brigadier Grant Mason DSC DSM ADC is currently conducting a six-month study for the Australian Defence Force that aims to identify relevant, key strategic lessons from the Ukraine-Russia conflict and how these could be applied to the Australian context. While it is clear that Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine provides unique insights into contemporary warfare, including how to leverage innovative concepts, the importance of Allies and the integration of Defence Industry, not all lessons are relevant to all theatres of conflict. This talk should provide a unique opportunity for all participants to explore key strategic lessons from this unique conflict, without getting into the tactics of the trenches or being distracted by drones.
